Last night I was relaxing and watching TV when an ad came on that caught my attention.
In the ad I saw a lady sink under the water and stop breathing. She was drowning. Just when it looked like it was too late someone reached their hand under the water and pulled her to the surface.
As this lady reached the surface she opened her eyes and took a breath. She then swam under the water and took hold of another drown victim and pulled them safely to the top of the water.
You can view what I saw on television in the video clip below.
The message conveyed through this film clip was that through providing women and girls with:
opportunities to bring in an income,
opportunities to be a leader in their community
that lasting change is brought into their family and their community.
Through setting women free from poverty and empowering them to be all that they can be in their own community and nation means that many other lives will be touched in positive ways, both in the present and in the future.
What can you do to help release girls and women from poverty?
You can find out more about the organization “CARE” and see ways that you can help and make a difference.
Let’s partner together and make this world a better place!
Back in 2006 I moved from Newcastle in New South Wales up to the Gold Coast in Queensland so that we could be closer to my family.
I then began to look for employment. I was able to sign up with Mission Australia and they put me through some training to get me back into the workforce.
During the course we needed to do several different tasks. One of which was to create a vision-type poster.
I cut out photos from magazines and created a collage of what I want for my life.
We then needed to write on our Vision Poster what we saw as the Goal or Purpose of our life.
I wrote “My Purpose is to Enjoy the Gift of Live & to Empower Others to Enjoy Life.”
This desire and passion has not changed since this time. Although my time has been consumed by just bringing in an income to pay our bills, my passion to Empower others to Live Life to the Full still burns in my heart!
I want to see things radically change in our world in my lifetime! I want to see people set free from the bondage of slavery.
Until the last 10 years I never even realized that slavery was still a problem in today’s society, but now I know that it is not just a small problem, but it is a huge, evil, insidious problem in much of the world.
Children and women are usually the main victims of human slavery, but men are also victims sometimes. Often after natural disasters the slave traders come in (often even before the rescue workers!) and they find orphaned children or disoriented young people and before they know it these people become victims.
I desire to be a voice for these people and to speak out to make their plight known to others!
Let’s agree together that we will take a stand and speak out when we can and make this world a better place for us, our children and future generations.
It has been quite a while since I have written on this blog. I have had a busy time with family commitments and life itself, but I want to now begin to post again.
There are so many ways that we can reach out to others and make a difference that I want to get back into sharing my ideas with you. Time flies by so very quickly, that sometimes it is a real commitment and effort to continue to post to my site, but I want to be committed.
I will begin by wishing all of our readers a very happy Passover and happy Easter. Passover is already underway with the seder happening a couple of days ago. Easter is going to be celebrated at the end of the week in a couple of days.
I was spending some time in prayer today and reading a devotional booklet and it discussed
the importance of us taking the first step and not just letting life happen to us without being proactive in the process.
Jesus came up to the man at the pool of Bethesda and asked him if he wanted to be healed. When he indicated that he did then Jesus told him to Get up, pick up his mat and walk!
This man had to do something in faith and not just sit there being a victim of life and circumstances.
This passage spoke to me as sometimes I think that I find it easier to collapse in a heap under the pressure that life puts out instead of being proactive and taking small steps towards my dreams and goals and the things that are truly important to me.
So I encourage you to give this some thought and see you can apply it in your own life.
Again, I wish you a very Safe, Happy and Blessed Easter and Passover!
